Position Title: Legal Counsel

Division: Legal, Risk & Compliance

Entity: Asociación de Normalización y Certificación, S.A. de C.V. (ANCE)

Location: Mexico City, Mexico

Reports to: Vice President, General Counsel, Risk & Compliance Officer

 

Hours Worked: The maximum duration of the weekly working hours will be 48 (forty-eight) hours, distributed from Monday to Saturday of each week. However, the employee must be flexible to meet the needs of the department and complete other projects as assigned. Typically, Monday through Friday, forty-five hours per week.

 

Position Summary

Provide legal, compliance and investigations support in line with applicable regulations and Bureau Veritas policies, to mitigate risk and enable responsible business growth across the LATAM region (Mexico, Guatemala and Brazil).

Duties and Responsibilities

Level 1 (core responsibilities: Legal ~60% and Compliance ~20%)

  • Contract review and negotiation
  • Corporate governance
  • Claims and disputes
  • Labor and employment matters
  • Insurance-related matters
  • Policy implementation and training
  • Compliance Initiative-related activities
  • Supervise one lawyer dedicated to the ANCE business

Level 2 (growing remit: Investigations 10% to 20%)

  • Ethics and Integrity-related cases
  • Managing growing demand for investigations tied to regional market shifts

Skills & Proficiencies

Level 1 (required)

  • Strong legal foundation with hands-on operational capability
  • Proven ability to manage complexity across multiple jurisdictions
  • Business-oriented, pragmatic approach
  • Bilingual Spanish/English

Level 2 (preferred)

  • Client-facing investigations experience
  • Experience supporting risk management and compliance functions
  • Experience in a multinational or matrixed environment
