Hours Worked: Mon-Fri, 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

 

Compensation Range: $15-17 an hour (e.g., the job posting is not necessarily reflective of actual compensation that may be earned, and actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as locations, education, experience, and skillset).

 

Position Summary:

The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for supporting the Microbiology Laboratory operation. Duties include making nutrient agar and broth (media), running autoclaves (steam sterilizers), cleaning glassware, maintaining inventory of supplies, and other lab duties.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Practices safe work habits, including complying with all safety, health, and environmental rules and regulations.
  • Perform daily cleaning/housekeeping of work area in laboratory.
  • Wash glassware by hand and using dishwashers to maintain clean supply for the labs.
  • Make batches of media (broth and agar) using a balance, hot plate, and dispensing equipment.
  • Use other basic tools to perform protocols.
  • Meet all assigned deadlines and complete appropriate documentation, maintaining accurate and legible notebooks and records.
  • Follow the guidelines set forth with clients and in the company Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environmental policies and procedures.
  • Comply with company management systems in accordance with appropriate regulatory agencies.
  • Follows the guidelines set forth in by clients and the company Quality Manual and Safety / Chemical Hygiene Plan
  • Other duties as defined by Manager, department needs, and workload.

  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks with accuracy and agility
  • Attention to detail and good organizational skills
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
  • Ability to work independently with little oversight
  • Strong interpersonal skills such as communication, initiative, and a positive attitude

 

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous industry experience not required
