Bureau Veritas is recruiting a Microbiology Analyst I specializing in drinking water microbiological testing and quality assurance.
As a Microbiology Analyst 1, your main responsibilities are:
- Review LIMS summary reports to plan and organize daily work.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Ensure a high level of accuracy in sample preparation and analysis.
- Operate and maintain all necessary instruments and equipment to complete tasks (autoclaves, pH meter, incubators, Eppendorf pipettes).
- Assess and correct problems with laboratory operations according to SOP guidelines and ISO 17025 regulatory criteria.
- Meet quality and TAT specifications required by the client and ensure samples are analyzed within holding time requirements.
- Identify and document all known sample deviations, non-conformances, and/or process deviations and report to the Supervisor.
- Employ proper laboratory techniques to minimize risks of mislabeling, sample mix-up, and cross-contamination between samples and other materials.
- Provide input to corrective action procedures and report problems and corrective actions to the Supervisor.
- Provide Supervisor/Manager with updates on workstation status, including advance notification of any delays.
- Evaluate and initiate problem-solving in all areas of the laboratory.
- Support and comply with all Bureau Veritas policies, Quality System, and Health & Safety program.
- Participate, when requested, in lab and Health & Safety meetings.
- Participate, when requested, in internal and external audits.
- Maintain training records and relevant qualifications.
- Keep work area clean, neat, and organized.
- Perform all other assigned responsibilities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, or a related scientific discipline.
- Strong knowledge of microbiological techniques and laboratory procedures.
- Demonstrated experience in Microbiology (preferred).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Working Conditions:
- High-level work production in a fast-paced laboratory environment. May involve repetitive processes requiring patience, tenacity, and persistence.
- Flexible working hours, including mandatory overtime, shift work, and on-call responsibilities.
- May require long periods of standing.
- Some lifting and carrying of equipment or materials (up to 40 pounds).
- Handle hazardous materials using established safety procedures and appropriate protective equipment.
