Bureau Veritas is looking for a

 

Laboratory Analyst – Radiochemistry Lab

 

As a Laboratory Analyst, your responsibilities are:

 

  • Plan and organize daily work with guidance from Leads and/or Supervisor

  • Accurately follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for:

  • Sample preparation and procedures prior to analysis

  • General laboratory procedures (glassware, weighing, disposal, etc)

  • Ensure a high level of accuracy in sample preparation and analysis

  • Employ proper laboratory techniques to minimize the risk of mislabelling, sample mix-up, and cross contamination

  • Maintain clean, neat, and organized work areas

  • Keep training records, proficiencies, and qualifications up to date

  • Prepare reagents and ensure adequate volumes are available by monitoring quantities

  • Learn and operate equipment and instrumentation to complete assigned tasks including (but not necessarily limited to):

    • Balances, pipettes, hot plates, stir plates, mixers, centrifuges, vacuum pumps, etc

    • Alpha Spectrometers, Gas Flow Proportional Counter (GFPC)

  • Proficiency with internal LIMS functions including:

  • Sample movement / Archiving (SAIL) and worksheet creation

  • Proficiency with internal QA platform (CPro)

  • Meet quality and turnaround time (TAT) when working with client samples

  • Proactively provide Supervisor / Manager with updates including advance notification of sample delays

  • Report to the Supervisor any and all sample or procedural deviations and non-conformances

  • Monitor the laboratory to improve efficiencies and reduce costs in a continuous and ongoing fashion

  • Support and comply with all Bureau Veritas policies, Quality Systems, and Health & Safety programs

  • Participate in the lab, Health & Safety meetings, and internal/external audits when requested

  • All other responsibilities as assigned

 

You are an ideal Laboratory Analyst if you have [Minimum Requirements]:

 

  • Post-Secondary school education (B.Sc. with radiation/health physics emphasis preferred)

  • Additional qualifications such as a degree or minor in radiation science or health physics are considered an asset

  • Demonstrated success in the role of a Lab Technician

  • A positive outlook with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Knowledge of performing analytical procedures and related quality control techniques

  • Ability to understand analysis procedures and problem-solves issues

  • Good time-management, communication, multi-tasking, and priority-setting skills

  • Adapts to a changing environment and Learns quickly

  • Works both independently and as part of a team

  • Detail-orientated and good record-keeping skills

  • Ability to handle hazardous materials using established safety procedures and appropriate PPE

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 10 kgs

Shift: Open to work Morning, afternoon or weekend shifts.
