Job Title: Lab Technician- Metals Group Processing

Reports to (title): Supervisor Metals Group   

Department: Metals Processing        

Basic Purpose:   What is the overall function of the job?

To provide general support in the analysis of samples, and to perform simple sample preparations

Key Accountability/Responsibilities:   What specifically is this job expected to accomplish?  

•             Prepare water and waste water samples for various Inorganic testing in a timely manner.

•             Perform Digestions/Extractions / Filtration on Environmental water, Food and Soil samples.

•             Use Summary reports/TAT to plan and organize work to ensure Hold Time and deadlines are met.

•             Ensure that sample switch, cross contamination between samples and other material does not occur.

•             Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) to ensure accuracy and quality of work.

•             Follow all laboratory safety rules and regulations and promptly report any Near hits/unsafe conditions and/or behaviors.

•             Keep their work area clean, neat and organized.

•             Contribute to daily and weekly planning.

•             Perform daily verification of volumetric devices/Balances and other equipment when needed.

•             Recognizes routine and non-routine problems and consults with Group Lead/Supervisor

•             Other responsibilities as assigned by their supervisor.

Skills and Knowledge:  What skills and knowledge are used to carry out job responsibilities and solve problems?

 

•             Minimum of a diploma in Chemical Technology from an approved institution or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

•             Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

•             Good record keeping skills and attention to detail.

•             Ability to accurately follow Standard operating Procedures (SOP’s) and instructions.

•             Dynamic, energetic, motivated, positive outlook and a "can-do" attitude.

 

 

Work Relationships

 

•             Internal:  Internal: This position involves daily engagement with coworkers to exchange information, and with their supervisor for scheduling, instructions and training

•             External:  Customer Service, Purchasing, QA, Pre-processing and Main Lab Departments.

 

 

Working Conditions:  physical work environment, physical and mental effort, visual/listening attention and travel

•             Lab Technicians are expected to perform repetitive analyses and sample preparations using a variety of equipment as required and according to deadlines established by their supervisor.

•             This job requires flexible working hours and shift work

•             Hazardous materials are handled using established safety procedures and appropriate equipment.

 

 

This posting is required to meet our seasonal capacity. The salary range for this role is $17.50 to $18.20  .Our salary ranges reflect the range of skills and experience required for the posted position. The final offer amount for this role will depend on geographical region, applicable experience, internal equity, and the skillset of the candidate.  Artificial intelligence (AI) tools may be used to support parts of the recruitment and selection process; however, all hiring decisions are made by our hiring managers and talent acquisition team.
