Laboratory Technician

This role supports the overall operation of the Pre-Processing department by ensuring all procedures are completed safely, accurately, and within required timelines. The position provides essential hands-on support in sample receiving, distribution, preparation, weighing, and basic analysis.This is a physically demanding role that involves frequent lifting (up to 40 lbs), repetitive tasks, and continuous movement in a fast-paced laboratory environment.

 

Key Responsibilities
Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to maintain accuracy, quality, and compliance.
Adhere strictly to all laboratory safety protocols and the BV Code of Ethics.
Perform general lab support duties, including sorting, distributing, pre-processing, weighing, and assisting with sample analysis.
Prioritize and manage workload using SAIL and LIMS systems based on rush requests, hold times, and client deadlines.
Conduct basic data analysis and reporting under supervision.
Ensure all quality control requirements are met and maintain audit compliance.
Consistently meet assigned turnaround times and changing deadlines.
Apply proper lab techniques to prevent sample loss, mislabeling, or cross-contamination.
Collaborate with team members to improve workflow efficiency and productivity.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment (Good Housekeeping standards).
Assist with special projects and provide support across the department as needed.


Physical Requirements
Ability to lift, carry, and move materials up to 40 lbs on a regular basis
Perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the shift (lifting, sorting, transferring samples)
Stand, walk, and move continuously during working hours
Work efficiently in a fast-paced, physically active environment with time-sensitive demands

Education & Experience
Minimum Diploma (Chemical Technician Diploma preferred)
Work Environment
Fast-paced laboratory setting with shifting priorities and deadlines
Exposure to hazardous materials requiring strict adherence to safety protocols and PPE usage
Flexible working hours and shift work may be required
Physically active role with consistent manual handling requirements
