Job Description

Carry out the construction survey
-
In cooperation with New Construction Manager or delegate, assigns a team of surveyor(s) for the projects
-
Coordinates, appoints and supervises the tasks to be performed by the appointed surveyors in the Shipyard
-
Ensures that the surveyor has the requested qualification for a appointed task to be carried out
-
Implements the Safety precautions as indicated by, Group HSE policy and assess the conditions necessary for carrying out surveys to the expected quality level, against his own abilities, availability and the conditions on site. Reports any issue to NC manager

Prepares and attends pre-kick off meeting with NC manager and Plan Approval office.

Reviews the request of classification, new building agreement, MOU if any to verify that applicable rules, regulation, standard, instructions and contractual documents are available and up-to-date.

Prepares the check-list of documents to be issued and list of equipment to be certify for each project

Prepares and attends kick-off meeting with the Shipyard; Issue minutes of meeting.

Prepares and attends periodical quality meeting with the Shipyard; Issues minutes of meeting.

Takes necessary action to ensure the follow-up of drawing review and materials certification

Monitors Quality Control activities, Reviews documents: where the Shipyard may proceed with the inspection, and relevant records and/or certificates are to be provided to the surveyor.

Prepares records, classification and statutory reports during the construction as required for each specific project

Issues provisional or definitive Class and Statutory certificates and attestation as required for each specific project

Ensure the quality of the performed services.

May call for advice from New Construction manager (or HO/SAY through New Construction Manager) for technical matters during the construction or for issue of certificates and for any questions he deems beyond his abilities.

Reports any difficulty, complaint or non-conformity to the New Construction Manager

Implement the contract requirement as defined in the contract review

Prepare the requested periodical activity reports for the project. (Including monthly report and Work in Progress to New Construction manager).

Prepares and keeps up-date the survey schedule of the ships based on actual workload, certification and subcontracted activities by Shipyard. Reports to New Construction manager monthly

Provide information and support necessary to MOs and CMs as concern missions involving them.

Verify consistency and compliance of the BV record of construction with NC Procedure 16, local instruction and guidelines before sending file to archives
Profile
- Academic back ground : Marine Engineer, Naval Architect or equivalent technical diploma
- Experience in New Construction (Preferably Machinery and/or Electric) and/or Onboard Experience as Engineer
- Qualification and experiences in the relevant field
- Good English and local language skill
- PC skills
