Job Overview:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to join our team as field inspector for transportation infrastructure construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong educational background in civil engineering or construction.
Key Responsibilities:
• Construction Inspections: Conduct routine inspections of the work being performed, including reviewing materials, work quality, and adherence to design drawings. Oversee day-to-day construction activities.
• Quality Control: Ensure that all construction work meets or exceeds the required quality
standards, technical specifications, and industry regulations.
• Observation and Critical Thinking: Takes appropriate action when construction work does not conform to requirements of the specifications and standards. Applies engineering judgement as allowed to resolve issues at the lowest level.
• Coordination & Communication: Serve as the liaison between the project team and the
field activities.
• Safety Compliance: Ensure the site follows all health, safety, and environmental policies and regulations to create a safe working environment.
• Documentation: Maintain daily logs, inspection records, and other documentation as required by the client and funding agencies.
• Reporting: Provide detailed progress reports to senior management and stakeholders.

Qualifications:
• Education: A.A. degree and minimum 10 years of inspector experience in public works.
• Certifications:
ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician certification is preferred.
• Skills:
o Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and quality control processes.
o Logical use of engineering and analytical skills to solve construction issues at the lowest level.
o Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
o Solid understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
o Flexibility in thinking and behavior to adapt to changes in the project and work environment.
o Irreproachable ethics and integrity as part of standards of conduct.
o Highly motivated, and able to work on own initiative with minimal supervision, but also to collaborate with our team.
o Development and maintenance of client and professional relationships.
o Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, Word, Excel, and Power Point.

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to work on-site in various weather conditions and environments.
• Ability to work variable hours and schedules including night work.
• Ability to inspect construction sites include climbing ladders, navigating uneven terrain, and lifting testing equipment and samples up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and adjust to changing project needs.
Preferred:
• Previous experience working with Caltrans governing documents including the Bridge Construction Records & Procedures, other Structure Construction (SC) manuals, the Construction Manual, Caltrans' Safety Manuals, Standard Specifications, and Special Provisions.
• Knowledge of applicable California Test Methods and ASTM tests used on bridge and building construction materials.
• Familiarity with environmental impact assessments, permits, and compliance processes.
• Knowledge of Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), Cal/OSHA safety regulations.
• Strong desire to learn the process of construction and the application of business within construction.
