As an Application Developer with Bureau Veritas, you’ll build and optimize the tools our engineers and architects use to assess buildings for capital planning, safety, energy efficiency, ADA compliance, and sustainability goals. Your work will streamline inspections, automate workflows, and simplify data capture—directly supporting field operations while driving revenue, efficiency, and resilience across our organization.
Position Summary:
The FileMaker Developer 3 will lead development, integration, and optimization of complex FileMaker Go applications while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, scalable, and secure solutions.
The FileMaker Developer 3 is responsible for supporting and maintaining software applications, implementing design enhancements, and leading project development initiatives. As a member of our in-house development team, you will build and maintain tools, facilitate adoption of existing systems, integrate applications, coordinate user acceptance testing, support data migration, and train end users. Success in this role requires cross-functional collaboration and the ability to deliver scalable, secure, and efficient solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and extend highly complex FileMaker Go applications.
- Create RESTful API integrations and improve connections with SQL Server, MySQL, and other data sources.
- Define and implement FileMaker development best practices, including continuous improvement, security enhancements, and object-oriented-like approaches.
- Establish consistent naming conventions and modular development practices.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and implement system improvements.
- Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
- Follow and recommend guidance for DevOps and CI/CD best practices.
- Gather and analyze business, functional, and technical requirements to provide actionable recommendations.
- Provide real-time user support via phone, email, and screen-share.
- Own projects, communicate effectively, and regularly update stakeholders.
- Drive development schedules internally and externally, ensuring project milestones are met.
- Define and streamline process workflows to automate, eliminate, or improve efficiency.
- Document and demonstrate solutions using flowcharts, diagrams, code comments, and layouts.
- Conduct systems analysis to improve operations and recommend policy/procedure changes.
- Participate in software testing, demos, and client presentations.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to company security and quality standards.
- Work comfortably with Agile, Waterfall, Rapid Application Development, and DevOps methodologies.
Required Experience:
- Proven experience in FileMaker application development, including database design, layouts, scripting, calculations, and security management.
Highly Preferred Experience:
- Integrating with HTTP APIs (REST, GraphQL) and working with JSON.
Nice to Have:
- Querying Microsoft SQL data sources
- Microsoft Azure platform (applications, data storage)
- QuickBase
- Microsoft web technologies (ASP.NET, C#)
- ESRI platforms (ArcGIS) for geospatial data
- Large Language Model (LLM) APIs / AWS Bedrock
