Testing and Commissioning Vehicle Engineer

 

Responsibilities:

 

  1. Ensures that sites are properly stocked with installation and test tools and oversees their periodic calibration in accordance with BT standards.
  2. Participates in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) in the laboratory, including the preparation of the FAT plan.
  3. Undertakes site commissioning activities of radio-based train control systems, including functional tests, System Acceptance Testing (SAT), and System Integration Testing (SIT). Guarantees that all interfaces to the signaling system are appropriately tested.
  4. Conducts testing and commissioning of the On-Board, Wayside, and Radio systems.
  5. Liaises with the Engineering team and/or suppliers to address any design changes or modifications necessitated by test results.
  6. Records, reports, and endorses test results as required.
  7. Ensures that testing activities are carried out in a timely, logical, and cost-effective manner.
  8. Collaborates with the Engineering team on the evolution of drawings (including mark-up, change orders, and transmittals) until the as-built stage is reached.
  9. Develops productive relationships with client teams to guarantee the successful handover and post-implementation operation of projects.
  10. Plans and schedules site Integration and Testing Commissioning (ITC) activities in accordance with the rolling program, ensuring alignment with the master program.
  11. Produces redline corrections based on the released drawings.
  12. Corrects and rectifies failures that occur during the Testing and Commissioning (T&C) phase.
  13. Raises Non-Conformity Reports (NCRs), Material Non-Conformity Reports (MNCRs), and fault reports upon identifying any issues.
  14. Consolidates and tracks records, software, hardware, and field changes.
  15. Implements field change orders.
  16. Prepares installation, testing, and commissioning procedures/method statements for the communication-based train control system.
  17. Verifies the quality of installation works and raises concerns if there are any quality issues.
  18. Troubleshoots and analyzes any problems encountered.
  19. Maintains good collaboration with wayside testers during interface testing.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, or Mechatronics Engineering.
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of experience (or more preferred).
  • Strong understanding of train delivery and the ability to manage installation, static, and dynamic testing.
  • Experience in Vehicle Signalling Installation Testing and Commissioning.
  • Rolling stock experience (advantageous).
