Compensation: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
POSITION OVERVIEW
Bureau Veritas Commodities and Trade Inc. is seeking a self-motivated **Inspector (Industrial Minerals)** to join our growing Metals & Minerals survey business in Scott City, MO. This role is critical to our inspection and sampling services operations, which are experiencing monthly growth in both volume and client base.
As an Inspector, you will represent Bureau Veritas and our clients in a professional manner while conducting inspections, weighing, and sampling of various commodities at multiple locations. This position requires flexibility, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in field environments.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Attend various locations to carry out and/or supervise the inspection, weighing, and sampling of various commodities as directed by the Operations Supervisor
- Represent Bureau Veritas and contracting clients in a professional manner at all times
- Conduct inspections and verification of materials and products using both visual and mechanical methods
- Sample and/or supervise the sampling of suitable, representative analytical samples from nominated materials
- Receive, sign for, and dispatch samples on behalf of Bureau Veritas as required
- Produce accurate time logs for all activities to professional standards within 24 hours of sampling/inspection
- Adhere to and conform to internal safety and IT practices
- Carry out associated duties relevant to the Metals & Minerals Division as directed by the Business Unit Manager
ACCOUNTABILITIES AND PERFORMANCE MEASURES
Flexibility: Be flexible with working times and duration; weekend and evening work is required due to the nature of the business
Compliance: Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company standards and policies, including Health, Safety & Environmental, Ethics, Compliance, and Quality Management System requirements
Site Safety: Ensure all site work complies with local site rules and appropriate risk management procedures
Equipment Management: Use personal protective equipment and other equipment as required; maintain equipment in good working condition
Professional Representation: Promote the reputation of Bureau Veritas through responsible and professional conduct
Communication: Keep supervisor fully informed of all aspects of day-to-day operations
Issue Reporting: Immediately report any deviations or failures in work to supervisor to protect Bureau Veritas and client interests
Licensing: Maintain current, valid Driver's License
Coordination: Support job coordination for efficient department operations
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Self-motivated, self-starter with a preference for field-based work
- Demonstrated technical ability in sampling, measurement, and inspection of dry bulk metals and minerals
- Strong time management, organization, and prioritization skills
- Ability to work in remote locations and adapt to problems as situations arise
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Excellent written, verbal, and email communication skills with ability to communicate effectively with clients and staff at all organizational levels
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Proven ability to balance multiple competing priorities, meet deadlines, and remain responsive
- Willingness to learn and rapidly adapt to changing conditions
- Ability to prepare documents and spreadsheets to a high standard using MS Office software
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS
- Valid Driver's License (must be maintained throughout employment)
- Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) required
