Job Description: Credit Controller
Role Purpose
The Credit Controller is responsible for managing receivables, minimizing credit risk, and supporting strong cash flow through effective credit assessment, collections, client engagement, and internal coordination. The role requires strong analytical, communication, and negotiation competencies aligned with business and financial objectives.
Core Competencies & Accountabilities
1. Credit Risk Management
- Competency: Analytical thinking, financial acumen
- Assess new credit requests and conduct customer credit checks
- Evaluate customer financial risk and recommend credit limits
- Monitor customer exposure and aging to prevent bad debt
2. Collections & Debt Recovery
- Competency: Negotiation, persistence, results orientation
- Proactively follow up with clients for outstanding payments
- Negotiate payment terms and settlement plans where required
- Escalate delinquent accounts in line with company procedures
- Conduct calls, meetings, and client visits to resolve overdue payments
3. Systems & Process Compliance
- Competency: Digital proficiency, process discipline
- Use company approved tools such as Get Paid and other collection systems
- Ensure accurate system updates of receipts, follow ups, and disputes
- Adhere to internal credit control policies and audit requirements
4. Reporting & Data Accuracy
- Competency: Attention to detail, data integrity
- Maintain accurate customer master data and sales ledger
- Prepare aging reports, account statements, and collection dashboards
- Generate ad hoc reports as requested by management
5. Client & Stakeholder Management
- Competency: Communication, relationship management
- Respond clearly and professionally to customer payment and invoice queries
- Liaise with Sales and Operations teams to resolve billing discrepancies
- Maintain professional relationships while enforcing credit control discipline
6. Risk Escalation & Business Support
- Competency: Judgment, accountability
- Identify early warning signs of nonpayment risk
- Escalate concerns to management with mitigation recommendations
- Support business units in achieving revenue realization
Qualification & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Mathematics, or related field
- Relevant experience as a Credit Controller, preferably in an MNC
- Proficiency in MS Office, Outlook, and financial systems
- Ability to reconcile complex receivables
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Fluency in Arabic and English
- Proven ability to handle difficult clients professionally
