Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Resident Engineer – AI & Digital Construction to oversee civil and structural site supervision works while supporting the development of AI and digital solutions for construction operations.

The role combines strong QSS and site supervision responsibilities with collaboration alongside APA’s Lead Applied AI Engineer to improve workflows, automation, and digital site processes. Ideal candidates should have solid construction experience, strong regulatory knowledge, and an interest in AI, automation, and smart construction technologies.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of site supervisors and Resident Technical Officers (RTOs).
  • Work closely with the Qualified Person (QP) to resolve all design and technical issues arising from construction works.
  • Review all project drawings, specifications, and construction documents, and identify discrepancies and potential issues before and during construction.
  • Review civil and structural documentation submissions from contractors, including temporary works designs, method statements, technical submissions, and test reports.
  • Supervise construction and related works to ensure compliance with project specifications, approved drawings, shop drawings, approved materials, method statements, and installation procedures.
  • Maintain quality control standards and ensure works are carried out in accordance with approved construction methodologies and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure all works comply with the Building Control Act & Regulations, Codes of Practice, and requirements of relevant authorities and government agencies.
  • Report to the supervising Qualified Person on any works not carried out in accordance with approved plans, specifications, and drawings.
  • Assist in resolving site coordination issues, including interfacing and coordination with adjacent or nearby construction works.
  • Coordinate with consultants, contractors, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure timely and smooth project execution.
  • Observe and enforce site safety requirements, ensuring works are carried out safely and in accordance with workplace safety regulations.
  • Prepare and submit site reports, inspection records, and progress updates as required.

 

Digital Construction & AI Responsibilities

  • Work closely with APA’s Lead Applied AI Engineer to co-create innovative AI and automation solutions for construction and site supervision workflows.
  • Translate QSS site operations and practical workflows into digital and AI-enabled applications.
  • Support pilot testing, implementation, validation, and iterative improvement of AI and automation solutions on active construction sites.
  • Provide operational feedback and practical site insights to digital and AI teams to improve usability, adoption, and effectiveness of solutions.
  • Participate in digital transformation initiatives involving smart construction technologies, workflow automation, and site productivity enhancement.
  • Support the implementation and adoption of digital site supervision tools and reporting systems.

 

 

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Civil and Structural Engineering
  • Registered with the BCA and accredited RE by IES/ACES
  • 5 years' experience in relevant field
  • Be conversant in local legislation, regulations, and codes.
  • Strong interest and passion for AI, automation, and digital site solutions
  • Able to guide and support piloting, testing, and iterative improvement of AI and automation solutions on construction sites
  • Provide site supervision subject matter expertise to AI and digital teams
  • Comfortable working with AI and digital teams
