Senior Mechanical Inspector –
Rotating Equipment (Japan)
Location: Japan (Vendors Facility-Kobe, Teikoku,
Mitsubishi, Elliott Ebara, ect.)
Job Purpose
We are seeking a highly experienced Mechanical Inspector to perform inspection and expediting
activities for rotating equipment, including compressors, pumps, and extruders, in compliance
with API standards and client specifications. The role ensures strict adherence to project
specifications and international standards during manufacturing and testing phases.
Key Responsibilities
• Participate in Pre-Inspection Meetings with vendors and clients.
• Attend all inspections as per the approved Inspection and Test Plan (ITP).
Witness and verify critical activities, including as minimum:
• Hydrostatic Test (HT)
• Leak Test
• NDE (VT, PT, UT, RT)
• Visual Inspection of Main Components
• Run-Out Check
• Balancing and At-Speed Balancing
• Clearance Check
• Magnetic Residual Test (MRT)
• Performance Test
• Final Inspection
• Painting Inspection
• Packing Inspection
• Perform scheduled expediting visits to monitor vendor progress and ensure timely delivery.
• Review and approve documentation as per ITP requirements.
• Review and approve Welding Books and related procedures.
• Report non-conformities and follow up on corrective actions.
• Coordinate with client representatives and vendors to resolve technical issues.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Technical Expertise:
• Excellent experience with centrifugal, reciprocating, and screw compressors in compliance
with API 617, API 618, API 619 and API 614 related to lube oil system.
• Excellent experience with centrifugal pumps in compliance with API 610 and API 685.
• Good experience with extruders.
Inspection Skills:
• Strong knowledge of welding and NDE procedures.
• Qualified Welding Engineer certified according to JIS standards.
• Full NDE qualifications: VT, PT, UT, RT and MT.
Language:
• Excellent spoken and written English (mandatory).
Experience:
• Minimum 8–10 years in rotating equipment inspection within Oil & Gas or Petrochemical
projects.
