Job Title and Purpose
The Design Engineer will coordinate and review integrated design and engineering deliverables for a large institutional project in Uzbekistan, supporting multidisciplinary design quality, local approvals, technical coordination, and resolution of design issues throughout implementation.
Job Location
Will be based in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, with project and site visits as required.
Assignment duration: 10 months. Expected mobilization: January 2027.
Responsibilities
- Integrated Design Coordination: Coordinate architectural, civil, structural, MEP, and specialist design interfaces to ensure coherent project documentation.
- Design Review: Review drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical submissions for completeness, consistency, and constructability.
- State Expertise Support: Support preparation, submission, comment resolution, and approval processes with State Expertise (Gosexpertiza) and relevant authorities.
- BIM / CAD Coordination: Use AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM workflows to review design coordination and support issue resolution.
- Design Changes: Evaluate design revisions, clarify technical queries, and help control the impact of changes on other disciplines.
- Construction Support: Provide technical clarification during construction and coordinate responses between designers and the site supervision team.
- Documentation: Maintain design review registers, approval tracking, and clear records of technical decisions.
Measures of success
- Design documentation is coordinated, technically complete, and progressed efficiently through required Uzbekistan approval processes.
- Design conflicts and authority comments are resolved in a timely and traceable manner.
Requirements to be a successful candidate
- Education: University degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline.
- Experience: At least 10 years of experience in integrated design and/or engineering of large institutional projects in Uzbekistan.
- Approvals Experience: Proven track record of obtaining or supporting approvals through State Expertise (Gosexpertiza).
- Software Skills: Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM-based coordination processes.
- Languages: Fluency in Uzbek and Russian is mandatory, together with a strong working command of English.
- Skills: Strong multidisciplinary coordination, technical review, document control, and communication skills.
