Job Title and Purpose
The Structural Engineer will review and supervise reinforced concrete and steel structural works, with particular attention to seismic design requirements, construction quality, structural safety, and vibration control for sensitive laboratory environments.
Job Location
Will be based in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, with project and site visits as required.
Assignment duration: 8 months. Expected mobilization: January 2027.
Responsibilities
- Structural Review: Review structural drawings, calculations, details, method statements, and contractor technical submittals.
- Site Supervision: Inspect reinforced concrete, reinforcement, formwork, steel structures, connections, and related structural works.
- Seismic Compliance: Verify implementation of applicable seismic design and construction requirements, including SHNK 2.01.03-04.
- Laboratory Vibration Control: Review structural measures relevant to vibration-sensitive laboratory spaces and equipment.
- Quality Control: Witness inspections and tests, identify non-conformities, and verify corrective actions and workmanship quality.
- Technical Coordination: Coordinate structural interfaces with architectural, MEP, equipment, and construction teams.
- Documentation: Maintain clear structural inspection records, review comments, and technical reports.
Measures of success
- Structural works are executed safely and in accordance with approved design, seismic requirements, and specified quality standards.
- Structural and vibration-related issues are identified and resolved before they affect downstream construction or laboratory performance.
Requirements to be a successful candidate
- Education: University degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
- Experience: At least 10 years of experience in structural supervision of reinforced concrete and steel structures.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong knowledge of Uzbekistan seismic requirements, including SHNK 2.01.03-04, and relevant construction supervision practices.
- Specialized Experience: Understanding of vibration control considerations for laboratories or other vibration-sensitive facilities.
- Languages: Proficiency in Uzbek and Russian is required, together with a working command of English.
- Skills: Strong structural review, site inspection, quality assurance, technical coordination, and reporting skills.
