LDAR Technician - Offshore

Job Purpose
Conduct leak detection and repair (LDAR) surveys on offshore facility components to identify, document, and support the repair of fugitive emissions, ensuring compliance with environmental and HSE regulations and Bureau Veritas quality standards.

 

Key Responsibilities
•    Perform Method 21 and/or Optical Gas Imaging (OGI) surveys on valves, pumps, flanges, connectors, and other regulated components per facility P&IDs.
•    Tag, log, and track components in the LDAR database; update component inventory as changes occur on the facility.
•    Identify leaks, classify severity, and initiate work requests for repair; follow up on repair status and verify effectiveness post-repair.
•    Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot monitoring instruments (TVA/FID analyzers, IR cameras).
•    Maintain accurate field records, photos/videos, and compliance documentation for client and regulatory reporting.
•    Coordinate with offshore operations and maintenance teams on access, scheduling, and repair execution.
•    Strictly follow offshore HSE protocols, permit-to-work (PTW) systems, and PPE requirements at all times.
•    Report survey findings and compliance status to the Site Supervisor / Project Lead in a timely manner.

 

Requirements
•    Minimum 5 years' relevant experience in oil & gas, refinery, or offshore LDAR / emissions monitoring, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
•    Valid offshore safety certification (BOSIET/OPITO or equivalent) and current medical fitness certificate for offshore work.
•    Working knowledge of EPA Method 21, EN 15446, or equivalent leak detection and emissions standards.
•    Ability to work offshore rotations, in confined spaces, and at heights as required.
•    Strong documentation, data recording, and reporting skills.
•    Good communication skills in English; ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary offshore teams.

 

Preferred Qualifications
•    Technical diploma or degree in engineering, environmental science, or a related field.
•    Prior experience working specifically on offshore platforms in the GCC region.
•    Familiarity with LDAR database/software systems.
