Ø Purpose of Position
-
- The ISA (Independent Safety Assessment) Junior Assessor is responsible for leading and managing the Technical Audit, Quality and Safety audit assessment of railway safety products and systems, ensuring that they meet the highest safety standards and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Product Certification Management including QMS and Safety management Audit as per EN 5012x, witnessing test in lab & On Site. Issuing audit report, documentation review in case of product certification during various stages of product development and deployment.
- The role involves working on complex railway systems and projects, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and serving as the primary contact between clients, regulatory bodies, and internal teams.
- The position performs in line with the Bureau Veritas Quality Assurance System, including the BV Code of Ethics and the BV Group policy.
Ø Major Responsibilities

- Manage and support to lead ISA Technical, Quality and Safety audit ensuring all the test cases are performed on time and, within budget, and meet quality standards for the Rail/Metro project in India for Train control and signaling system
- Develop project audit plans, define scope, allocate resources, and perform test witnessing.
- Conduct and witness the test for the FAT & SAT for the Railway Safety products and projects, Train control and signaling system. Prepare a Audit Report based on the observations during the Audit
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, regulatory authorities, and project stakeholders.
- Conduct independent safety assessments of railway systems, subsystems, and components in accordance with CENELEC standards (e.g., EN 50126, EN 50128/ EN 50716, EN 50129) and relevant safety regulations.
- Review and evaluate safety-related documents such as Hazard Analyses, Risk Assessments, Safety Cases, and Verification & Validation reports.
- Identify safety-related issues, provide expert guidance, and develop recommendations for mitigating risks and ensuring compliance.
- Lead technical discussions and assessments, providing expertise in safety assurance processes, methodologies, and industry best practices.
- Support assessors and project team members in safety assessment activities and methodologies.

- Develop and review safety management plans and procedures, ensuring alignment with project requirements and safety goals.

- Implement risk mitigation strategies and ensure that all safety-related activities adhere to regulatory standards and company policies.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of railway safety standards, regulations, and guidelines.
Ø Qualification, Experience & Technical Knowledge (Competency Criteria)

- The applicant shall be Degree holder from Electrical/Electronics/Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering or equivalent, having at least 3 years in total of work Experience in Railway Signalling and Train control / Rolling Stock systems .
- Technical Expertise: Overall experience with safety systems , hazard analysis, and compliance assessments following CENELEC standards (EN 50126, EN 50128/ EN50716, EN 50129).
- Project Management: Experience managing safety-related projects, perform tests as per audit requirement according to CENELEC Standards and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience in railway signalling systems: CBTC Signaling (GOA 1 to GOA 4), ERTMS, PSD and interface with Rolling Stock.
- Overall knowledge on Rolling Stock, Trackwork, Power System and Railway Operations
- Overall knowledge on ISA activities, national safety authorities and regulatory bodies.
- Overall Knowledge of software safety assessment and cybersecurity in railway applications is a plus.
- Regional experience preferred
- Preparation and review of safety documentation is a plus.
- Understand client needs and work to achieve successful project outcomes.
- Auditing principles, practices, techniques and local laws related to the chosen standard.
- Knowledge of QA/QC is a plus.
