Purpose of the Role

To perform material testing activities in accordance with approved standards, project specifications and Bureau Veritas quality procedures, ensuring accurate testing, documentation and timely reporting to support quality assurance and project compliance.


Key Responsibilities

1. Material Testing
• Conduct routine and specialized testing of construction materials as per relevant IS/ASTM/IRC standards.
• Perform tests on cement, concrete, aggregates, soil, bitumen, steel and other construction materials.
• Ensure proper sample collection, identification and handling procedures.

2. Laboratory Operations
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment safely and efficiently.
• Carry out daily calibration checks and equipment verification.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization and safe working conditions within the laboratory.

3. Documentation & Reporting
• Record test observations accurately in approved formats.
• Prepare test reports and submit results to the Laboratory In-Charge within required timelines.
• Maintain testing registers, calibration records and traceability documents.

4. Quality Compliance
• Follow Bureau Veritas Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications, testing standards and safety procedures.
• Support internal and external audits through proper record keeping.

5. Coordination
• Coordinate with site engineers and QA/QC team for sampling and testing schedules.
• Inform supervisors of non-conforming results immediately.
• Assist in resolution and retesting activities when required.


Required Qualifications
• Diploma / ITI / B.Sc. in Civil Engineering, Material Testing, or related field.
• Certification in laboratory testing (preferred).


Experience
• 2–5 years of experience in construction material testing laboratory
• Experience in infrastructure, water supply, roads, or building projects preferred.
• Familiarity with IS codes and standard laboratory practices.


Technical Skills
• Knowledge of material testing procedures and standards.
• Ability to operate laboratory testing equipment.
• Basic understanding of QA/QC processes.
• Proficiency in maintaining testing records and reports.
