Trainee - Molecular Biology

Ø Purpose of Position

• To carry out the activities in Molecular biology lab such as sample reception at section, sample preparation, conducting experiments to analyze the requested parameters as per the SOPs/protocols. To participate and assist in ongoing method verification/validation studies. Strictly following the corresponding protocols/SOPs while performing any task. Maintenance of equipment, environment monitoring, duly filling of log books, and raw data. Assist the manager in planning and execution of work to prepare the lab for accreditation requirements.

• The position performs in line with the Bureau Veritas Quality Assurance System, including the BV Code of Ethics, the BV Group policy, NABL, APEDA, EIC and other applicable guidelines.

Major Responsibilities

• To carry out the assigned day to day tasks  such as analysis as per the work plan
• To assist the senior staff in day to day work.
• Must be able to understand and implement the work flow as per the protocols without deviation.
• Must have theoretical/ practical exposure on technicalities of DNA/Protein based Biomarker detection/analysis.
• Timely updating all relevant technical records, registers, log books and raw data sheets.   .
• To preserve/protect the samples integrity.
• To maintain the  calibration , CRMs, lab reagents, critical consumables, and equipment etc as per the requirements and updating the status timely
• Contribution towards maintaining the housekeeping, hygiene and safety in molecular biology laboratory.
• Strict adherence to the procedures of molecular biology laboratory cleaning and waste disposal practices
• Perform the day to day activities as directed by department manager.

• Must comply the BV Cardinal Safety Rules in all situations.                                                                                       
• To comply company HSE requirements e.g. policies, Procedures, guidelines etc. and local legal requirements on HSE as applicable
• To take care of own health and safety as well as colleagues and others.    
• Immediate reporting of any shortcomings on HSE i.e. any incident, unsafe work practices / conditions to his/her immediate Line Managers.
• Sharing opportunities for improvement on HSE aspects.

Criteria for Performance Evaluation (KPIs)

• Through understanding of molecular biology laboratory technical procedures covering the entire scope of testing and develop practical skills.
• Shall be punctual and shall ensure the testing within agreed time lines.
• Follow HSE norms and good housekeeping in working area
• Maintain  the  records/logbooks as per quality systems guidelines
• Maintain good human relationship with the colleagues  
• One improvement / suggestion per month for the cost saving and improve productivity
• Maintenance of 100% traceability for storage of samples & chemicals.

Qualification, Experience & Technical Knowledge

• B.Sc/M.Sc– Biotechnology or Molecular Biology or Microbiology as a subject in the graduation/post-graduation.
• Min 0 - 2 Years of experience in food molecular biological Analysis
• Preferable to have working experience in NABL accredited lab.
