Job Title: HSE Manager

Location: Witham - Hybrid Working (3 days per week in the office)

Package: Competitive salary + £4,800 car allowance/company car + excellent benefits 

 

Role Purpose:

Deliver a comprehensive HSE advisory and guidance service for the company across all parts of its operation. Be responsible for the development of the health, safety, environment, and quality annual programmes; ensure engagement and implementation through the business with appropriate monitoring versus the programme and business challenges. Ensure that the Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Management Systems are maintained and continually improved. Be accountable for the UK ISO14001/45001 management systems.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Setting the HSE plan and measures for the UK business to continue to reduce accidents, reduce carbon footprint, and improve the quality underpinned by a positive HSE culture
  • Engaging with the Leadership Team to enable their delivery of the HSE plan with challenge and support
  • Monitoring the HSE plan and associated measures and providing updates to the Leadership Team
  • HSE Legislation updates; completed and changes made where relevant to the Register of Legislation
  • Maintenance, development, implementation, and awareness of the UK Procedures & Processes
  • Attendance at Leadership meetings related to HSE at local, operating group, and group level.
  • Delivery of the HSE management system Internal audit programme
  • Maintenance of compliance with HSE Management System standards
  • Implementation of best practices and consistency across BV UK Commodities Ltd.
  • Delivery of HSE Management Reviews in accordance with BV policy and procedures and Management System standards. Reviewing and analysing data from Management Reviews that enable learning and continuous improvement
  • Quality and timely provision of the Bid & Tender information related to HSE
  • Ensuring that the Management System documentation is maintained, communicated, and developed to reflect the needs of BV UK Commodities Ltd.
  • Ensuring the provision of key monitoring data and dashboards for HSE implementation in the business
  • Ensuring all serious or potentially serious accidents are reviewed and lessons learnt published in collaboration with the business
  • The implementation and effective monitoring of the telematics implementation with the management team
  • The closure of any non-conformances associated with the HSE function
  • Maintaining a BV UK HSE annual plan to capture Group initiatives, summary training plans, reporting, and KPI’s to be achieved
  • The annual plan for auditing UK premises, ensuring the provision of adequate first aid services in each location
  • Coordinating technical and health, safety, and environment performance information for the UK and liaising with central group and operating group safety managers on all Health and Safety matters
  • Provision of Coaching and Development to the HSE Team and other staff members as required

  • Health and Safety professional, degree/Nebosh diploma or equivalent. [E]
  • Detailed knowledge of Quality, Health & Safety and Environment Standards [E]
  • Planning and Organising skills [E]
  • Ability to communicate with peers and BV Management team [E]

  • Project Management experience [D]
  • Familiar with MS Office 365 [D]
  • Occupation hygiene [D]
  • Certificate in Environmental management. [D]
  • Lead Auditor ISO 45001/14001 (IRC) [D]
