About the Role

We are looking for chartered Structural or Civil Structural Engineer, with a strong technical background and an ability to demonstrate a professional competency in structural engineering.  An experience of working on a wide range of projects encompassing superstructures and substructures.  Must have an ability to design and inspect steel, concrete, masonry and timber structures to British and Eurocode Standards.

The role will be to carry out structural inspections, plus monitor and manage others within the team.

To assist the Technical Director and Department Head in running the Structural Engineering Team, expanding its workload, and gaining new opportunities.

 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Design audits of whole or elements of projects
  • Technical responsibility
  • Line Management of engineering staff
  • Carry out design audits and risk appraisals
  • Carry out structural inspections
  • Meeting attendance
  • Day-to-day running of projects
  • Keep up to date with developments in civil structures, and structural engineering standards
  • Technical report writing
  • Must have good communication skills in order to have interaction with clients and other design team members
  • Willingness to travel
  • Ability to carry out structural inspections of a variety of structures

 

Candidate requirements include:

Experience & Skills Required:

  • Degree in civil or structural Engineering.
  • Member of a professional institution, ICE or IStructE
  • Chartered status, CEng
  • Demonstrable experience in civil and structural engineering
  • Good communication skills and ability to write technical reports
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant design codes
  • Experience in structural inspections
  • Ability to work in a team, giving guidance and support and training as and when necessary.
  • Enthusiasm for engineering quality and improvement
  • Project management experience an advantage
  • Full UK driving licence 
  • Ability and flexibility to travel

 

Qualifications Required:

  • Degree in civil or structural Engineering.
  • Member of a professional institution, ICE or IStructE
  • Chartered status, CEng
