Job Title: Scientific Advisor/Trainer

 

Location: Manchester

 

Salary: £30-£35k basic + £4250 car or car allowance + fantastic benefits package including private healthcare + buy and sell holidays.

About the Role

 

We are looking for an ambitious consultant/trainer to join our industry leading Risk and Safety division at Bureau Veritas. The key focus of this role is to provide high quality consulting support and training delivery to key clients including emergency services and industrial sectors.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and deliver technical training to emergency service and industrial clients in topics relating to hazardous materials, incident management, monitoring and testing as well as good practice guidance and legislation. Please note training is provided to emergency services across the UK and some courses last for up to a week. Ability to travel is essential with a willingness to be flexible in working from various locations within the UK. 
  • Carry out assessment of delegates where required and provide feedback.
  • Ensure quality assurance of training services delivered and take part in standardisation procedures.
  • Maintain current accreditation for training courses and look to broaden the accredited training services portfolio.
  • Provide scientific support to emergency services as part of an out of hours response rota.
  • Undertake consultancy services and activities relating to the supply, use and disposal of hazardous materials including incident management.
  • Maintain and deploy a wide range of analytical equipment (Infra-red, Gas Chromatography/mass spectrometry and Raman techniques) to detect, identify or monitor a range of hazardous materials. Provide detailed reports on findings and conclusions.
  • Keep abreast of current legislation, relevant national and international standards and guidelines and technical developments within the relevant field and provide guidance to clients.
  • Provide high quality technical consultancy to clients and team members within the Consulting Group
  • Play an active role in the delivery of an annual Consulting Group Plan
  • Marketing the relevant services of the company

 

Candidate requirements include:

  • High level of personal drive and commitment
  • Confident speaker able to draw knowledge from an array of disciplines to answer complex technical queries.
  • Positive approach to the challenges of change and see change as an opportunity.
  • Ability to prioritise and schedule objectives to optimise time, cost, and quality.
  • Ability and Willingness to travel nationwide, with overnight stays one week at a time. 

 

Qualifications Required:

Essential

•     Formal teaching qualification as a minimum Level 3 AET formally PETALS and CAVA in assessment or comparable experience in a teaching or a training environment

•     Full driving license

Desirable

•           Degree qualified in relevant subject (teaching/chemistry)

•           Member of a related professional institution
