About the Role

As the Head of Nuclear Business Development you will lead the UK Nuclear Business Development, driving performance and growth in turnover and profit.  You will have a talent to identify and implement change/improvements in operating efficiency, people capability and customer focus, with a particular focus on driving sales. 

This is a strategic role which focuses on commercially building the reputation of Bureau Veritas within the Nuclear industry in the UK, as part of the Energy Global Business Line.

 

The successful candidate will provide excellent technical management of inspection, quality assurance and related services in connection with Bureau Veritas nuclear and clean energy activities.

 

Responsibilities include:

 

  • Create and drive a business development plan to increase Bureau Veritas’ market share within the Nuclear industry internally and externally to the UK market; develop an organic growth agenda, supplemented with external acquisitive activities where appropriate
  • Deploy a robust sales strategy to increase market presence and achieve the highest reputation
  • Provide strong commercial leadership ensuring the strategic vision is clearly understood
  • Drive a business development culture within the team, supported by a communication and engagement plan
  • Drive a high positive customer experience culture within the division, which develops strong customer relationships.
  • Work with other UK Sector Leads and the Sales & Marketing team to ensure that maximum sales potential and revenue generating opportunities are met
  • Develop and manage against a framework of appropriate KPIs for the business unit
  • Drive development and capability improvement for all levels
  • Work closely with the UK Business Unit Manager(s) to maintain all external business accreditations
  • Work as part of the Energy Global Business Line and the UK management team

 

 

Skills and Experience Required

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree or technical qualification to at least level 5 (e.g. HND) in a relevant discipline; mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, science, physics, etc.
  • Professional recognition of expertise, e.g. Incorporated Engineer and working towards at least Chartered Engineer

 

Experience & Skills

  • Business development; market growth strategies
  • Leadership and strategic thinking
  • Project and contract management, preferably within an engineering environment
  • Experience working within a nuclear engineering firm, or nuclear safety consulting or TIC company or similar
  • Commercial proposals and presentations
  • Knowledge of nuclear quality management
  • Significant proven experience in one core technical field (e.g. nuclear pressure equipment, electrical equipment, C&I, civil works, nuclear safety, nuclear EIA, nuclear fuel, mechanical equipment or materials)
