Nuclear Design Verification Engineer
 

The role is specifically targeted at the Mechanical Design Verification of piping systems associated with new nuclear power plants. It will require an understanding of the design and manufacturing process requirements for components which are important to ensure the adequate level of safety and quality is achieved, and to ensure these are not compromised during any phase of the plant's lifecycle.
 

The successful candidate will be expected to interface with a range of Internal and external customers of Bureau Veritas and the Nuclear Regulator.


Main Duties

 

  • Review drawings, design reports, flexibility analysis and supporting manufacturing documents relating to safety critical piping systems
  • Undertake Conformity Assessment of piping components and systems in accordance with specified codes and standards
  • Provide input to the resolution of manufacturing and installation Non-Conformances.
  • Maintain a strong relationship with the internal technical departments and the clients Design, Quality and Programme teams.

 

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering
  • Registered member of a relevant professional institute or qualifications and experience suitable to lead to membership
  • Experience in highly regulated environment e.g. nuclear, aerospace, pharmaceutical etc.
  • Detailed working knowledge of design and construction codes namely RCC-M, ISO 13480 and associated standards
  • Experience in the manufacture and or installation of high integrity piping components and systems.
  • Understanding of Conformity Assessment procedures and requirements in a highly regulated environment
  • Decision making capability for resolution of technical issues
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external customers and suppliers
  • Excellent Technical English skills some French Language skills would also be desirable
