Fire Engineer

Bureau Veritas is looking for an experienced Fire Engineer to join our team of industry leading experts, providing high quality technical guidance and innovative solutions for a diverse client base.

The role will involve providing comprehensive fire engineering services throughout all stages of building design, construction and operation ensuring the current standards and codes of practice are used throughout the project lifecycle.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and maintain excellent industry relationships and information on fire engineering projects and opportunities.
  • Provide technical guidance and expertise into key areas within proposals and tenders.
  • Take responsibility for managing fire engineering projects across variety of sectors, including project team, progress and budget.
  • Liaise with and maintain good relations with clients, design teams and approval bodies.
  • Attend meetings where required, updating project status and adjusting delivery models and schedules where appropriate.
  • Review project technical information to prepare fire strategies and provide on-going support from initial concept through to final completion.
  • Undertake fire engineering analysis (e.g. radiation, smoke modelling, structural etc.) and third party reviews.
  • Provision of design and construction support including site visits where required.
  • Develop, analyse, review and issue reports.

 

Candidate requirements include:

  • Degree in Fire Engineering or equivalent engineering qualification. A Masters in Fire Engineering or Engineering will be an advantage
  • Demonstrable relevant fire engineering experience
  • Chartered Engineer or working towards Chartered status (e.g. Interim Registration with Engineer Council).
  • Experience of site visits/inspection for existing buildings and during construction
  • Experience of structural fire engineering would be of benefit.
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise
  • Customer focused and strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and good report writing skills
  • Proficiency in the use of standard IT applications (e.g.  Word, Excel)
  • Strives to improve performance and uses innovative methods to get there
  • Full UK Driving license.
