Role Purpose:


To deliver a highly technical and professional service in line with the Building Control’s Business Unit aims and in line with the Building Control and Building Standards Operating Procedures and QA systems.


You will act as a senior member of the Building Standards team by providing support and mentorship, delivery of projects and taking an active role in business growth and development activities.


You will provide an expert point of reference on technical delivery and assist in the delivery of the business’s budget and development plans.


Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To audit a client’s policies, procedures, practices and report back within the specified time frame.
  • To assist and guide clients as directed to comply with Building Standards in line with current and emerging legislation and guidance associated with the new Building Safety Regulator regime.
  • To assist in developing the Independent Construction Assessor (ICA) service within BV and seek to promote the service and gain further clients within the Construction  Industry.
  • Provide services to the Building Control Approved Inspector service as may be required from time to time.
  • To be part of a growing team and lead the way in promoting the Ethics and professionalism of Bureau Veritas.
  • To commit to personal Learning Development that will compliment this role


Experience & Skills Required:

  • Ideally qualified to degree level, or equivalent, in Building Control / Building Surveying
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience of working as an Approved Inspector in Building Control (or a similar role), with exposure to commercial clients.
  • Accredited RICS/CABE/CIOB status
  • Possess excellent technical knowledge of construction techniques and practices.
  • Detailed knowledge of construction standards, both regulatory and stakeholder standards e.g. warranty providers
  • Ability to encourage others to develop new skills and enhance existing ones
  • Ability to think both globally and locally when developing and communicating objectives and strategies
  • Detailed and in-depth understanding of commercial Building Control and Fire Safety
  • Strong analytical and report production skills
  • Excellent relationship building skills with ability to develop professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders
