Position summary
|
The HSE Specialist is responsible for implementing health, safety, and environmental programs at assigned locations, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. This role provides technical expertise, supports site-level HSE activities, and fosters a proactive safety culture.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
|
Site-Level Support
- Provide hands-on support to sites for HSE compliance, including reporting, permitting, and recordkeeping.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify risks and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with site managers to ensure proper implementation of HSE policies and procedures.
Incident Management
- Assist in investigating incidents, near hits, and unsafe acts/conditions, ensuring comprehensive root cause analysis.
- Drive the implementation of corrective and preventive actions, tracking their completion and effectiveness.
- Support post-incident management, including injury care, return-to-work processes, and case management.
Training and Development
- Conduct safety training sessions tailored to site-specific risks and requirements.
- Provide technical guidance on PPE selection, hazard control measures, and regulatory compliance.
- Act as a resource for site safety coordinators.
Program Implementation
- Support the roll-out of corporate HSE initiatives, including safety campaigns, risk reduction activities, and performance improvement programs.
- Assist in maintaining site certifications (ISO 14001, ISO 45001) and ensure alignment with global standards.
- Monitor compliance with transportation and environmental regulations, providing technical expertise where needed.
CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility)
- Assist in providing HSSE KPI updates and reports to the Regional CSR Ambassador.
- Support initiatives to achieve Regional CSR KPIs and participate in activities that promote the CSR mission.
- Engage in local CSR projects aligned with shaping a better environment, workplace, and business practices.
Performance Monitoring
- Track, analyze, and report HSE KPIs, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
- Conduct regular site visits and inspections to ensure compliance and foster continuous improvement.
- Lead training programs to build HSE capabilities across the region

Qualification & requirements
|
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in HSE roles, with a focus on site-level implementation.
- Experience in the fuels industry
- Knowledge of local regulatory requirements and international HSE standards.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Strong ethical standards and integrity.
- Ability to influence and inspire teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HSE reporting tools.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and professional development.
- Fluency in Portuguese’s and English is required.
