As we continue to develop Marine & Offshore activities, join our organization as Technical referent – Gas expert for our Head Office. The position is located within our La Défense (92) office in France. Alternatively, the position could be located in a BV Local Plan Approval Office / Marine Operations Centre before relocation to Head Office in 2024.

 

Role & main responsibilities

Part of the Operations Direction - New Construction Department, the job incumbent is the Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Technical Referent - Gas Expert for all new construction projects related to Gas Carriers, Gas as Fuel vessels including alternatives technologies of Low Flash Point fuels.

 

Reporting to the Gas Expertise Team (GET) Director, your role will be to

 

- Maintain and update technical knowledge related to LNG and alternative Fuels, including sustainable shipping developments (e.g. Wind Assisted Propulsion, Carbon Capture on board, etc.…)

- Participate as speaker in various conferences, seminars related to field of expertise

- Act as tutor and trainer within the New Construction (NC) network to ensure proper knowledge on new projects is disseminated

- When necessary act as project coordinator for complex projects, as support and supplement to assigned Project Leader (Mobilize / coordinate a team of LNG experts from network, when needed; Ensure contract management, in specific case ; Ensure good coordination and consolidation in follow-up of the project in particular when multiple sites in various countries; etc.…)

- Maintain a Return of Experience (REX) database for each alternative fuel / alternative propulsion

-  Participate in working streams dedicated to decarbonization drivers for shipping, e.g. streams covering renewable and low carbon fuels like ammonia or bio/e-methanol and bio/e-methane.

- Coordinate studies, for instance Joint Development projects or technical Due Diligence on LNG and Alternative Fuels/ propulsion system

- Participate in creating and updating Trainings for NC network

 

Requirements

- Master degree in engineering / environment with at least 15 years of professional experience, mainly in maritime sector, and a significant experience with Classification Societies

- Recognized experience with various type of vessels: Gas Carriers, Container Ships, Tankers, Bulk, etc…)

- Knowledge of Offshore complex project such as FSRUs or FLNGs (FPSOs)

- Field experience as surveyor but also as project coordinator / site manager

- Experience of working in a multicultural environment with ideally previous assignment in different countries

- Languages: English is mandatory, French would be a plus.
