Job Qualifications: Construction Manager (Bridge Infrastructure - Steel Specialist)
 
1. Educational Background
  • Bachelor’s Degree: In Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering from a reputable university.
  • Master’s Degree: A Master’s in Construction Management or Structural Engineering is highly preferred.
  • Professional Licensure: Must hold a valid Professional Engineer license (e.g., Sertifikat Keahlian/SKA Ahli Madya/Utama Jembatan or equivalent PE license).
 
2. Work Experience
  • Overall Experience: Minimum 10–15 years in civil infrastructure projects.
  • Specific Bridge Experience: At least 7 years specifically managing bridge construction (Suspension, Cable-stayed, or Steel Truss bridges).
  • Steel Structure Expertise: Proven track record in overseeing large-scale steel girder erection, complex steel truss assembly, and high-precision bolting/welding operations.
  • Project Scale: Experience managing projects with a contract value exceeding $20M–$50M (or equivalent).
 
3. Technical Skills & Expertise (Hard Skills)
  • Steel Fabrication & Erection: Deep understanding of steel shop drawings, fabrication tolerances, and specialized erection methods (e.g., Launching Gantry, Heavy Lifting, or Cantilever methods).
  • Welding & NDT Standards: Strong knowledge of international welding codes (e.g., AWS D1.5 Bridge Welding Code) and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) procedures.
  • Heavy Equipment Management: Expertise in managing heavy lifting equipment, including crawler cranes, tower cranes, and hydraulic jacks for bridge positioning.
  • Software Proficiency: Competent in using Project Management software (Primavera P6 or MS Project) and reviewing structural designs in AutoCAD, Tekla Structures, or BIM (Revit/Navisworks).
  • Quality Control: Expert in ensuring steel coating/galvanizing quality and fatigue-resistant detailing.
 
4. Management & Leadership (Soft Skills)
  • Site Leadership: Ability to manage multiple subcontractors, site engineers, and a workforce of 200+ personnel.
  • Problem Solving: Strong capability to resolve on-site technical clashes between structural steel and concrete/foundation works.
  • Communication: Professional fluency in English (written and verbal) for technical reporting and stakeholder coordination.
  • Contract Management: Familiarity with FIDIC or local government contract standards and the ability to manage variations/claims.
 
5. Safety & Quality Commitment
  • Strict adherence to HSE protocols, especially for high-altitude work (working at height) and lifting operations over water or active traffic.
  • Uncompromising commitment to "Zero Rework" through rigorous quality assurance of steel joints and alignments.
