Hours Worked: Monday through Friday, forty hours per week. However, must be flexible to meet the needs of the department and complete other projects as assigned.

 

Compensation Range: $32 - $36 an hour (e.g., the job posting is not necessarily reflective of actual compensation that may be earned, and actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as locations, education, experience, and skillset).

 

Position Summary:

The Digital Metrology  Engineer CT – Level I is responsible for developing, building, and owning metrology tools that characterize critical components. Develop new features and capabilities on existing and future metrology systems. Design and execute studies to improve throughput and accuracy of metrology systems.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Obtain digitized data using state of the art 3D scanning x-ray equipment from North Star Imaging.
  • Meet with engineers to understand test request requirements, develop guidance to potential scan technique solutions and assist with reviewing final scan data.
  • Perform metrology evaluations, digital comparisons, and other model interrogations leveraging industry leading post-processing software.
  • Interpret Data/Help solve problems/Guide customers to practical solutions to get their problems taken care of.
  • Design and execute fixturing of samples using various low-density materials.
  • Reverse engineering from scan data.
  • Occasionally handle biohazardous materials.
  • Assist with CT data presentation to visitors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Skills & Proficiencies:

    • Attend and be certified in the Advanced DR (DR Level II) and CT Intro training from the vendor, North Star Imaging.
    • Experience developing and applying new or routine X-ray and CT methods or techniques.
    • Knowledge of mechanisms, fixturing and engineering concepts.
    • Experience with Digital Metrology software packages such as Geomagic, VG Studio, Polyworks, or other industry leading software.
    • Strong communication, analytical problem solving, and conceptual design skills.
    • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
    • Able to quickly learn laboratory techniques and work well under pressure.
    • Presentation skills (customer tours, sales/marketing tours, etc.).
  • Preferred
    • Prior digital metrology experience.
    • Familiarity with fundamentals of GD&T.
    • Proficiency in Python, C++, or other programming languages.
    • Experience in SolidWorks or similar CAD software (with the ability to interpret 2D and 3D design models and technical drawings).
    • Experience working in a highly regulated industry.

 

Education and Experience:

    • 4 Year Engineering degree or a 4year degree in a STEM related field.
    • 2+ years of experience with North Star Imaging NDT X-ray or CT equipment or other equivalent Industrial X-Ray or CT equipment.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of above.
