Overview:

Position Title: Lab Support Technician I - II

Business Title: Lab Support Gene Editing

Location: Boston, MA Reports to: Manager FLSA: Non-Exempt

 

 

Hours Worked:

  • Typically, Monday through Friday, forty-hours per week. However, must be flexible to meet the needs of the department and complete other projects as assigned.
  • 12 month duration contract

 

Position Summary:

The Lab Assistant, Gene Editing is responsible for supporting research and experimental procedures aimed at modifying genetic material. Your primary responsibilities will include preparing, managing and labeling samples, maintaining lab equipment, assisting with molecular cloning, and performing gene editing using a variety of gene modification technologies. You will also handle routine tasks such as DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, gel electrophoresis, and plasmid preparation. Additionally, you will assist senior researchers with raw data collection,and maintaining accurate lab records. Attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and familiarity with basic molecular biology techniques are crucial for success in this role.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Check and following daily work plan
  • Complete work processes within designated deadlines
  • Performs all tasks and procedures in a team environment with daily supervision
  • Assist with preparation of specimens and instruments for testing as assigned (e.g., printing labels, uncap/cap specimen tubes, aliquot specimens, prepare racks, worklists, enter/scan specimens and load automated instruments).
  • Clean, organize and maintain work area, glassware (e.g., refrigerators, freezers, and supply cabinets, as needed).
  • Participate in the laboratory inventory program that provides adequate inventories of reagents and supplies.
  • Follow the guidelines set forth with clients and Company Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environmental policies and procedures.
  • Comply with clients’ and Company management systems in accordance with appropriate regulatory agencies.
  • Perform other essential tasks projects and responsibilities as required.
  • Other duties as defined by Manager, department needs and workload

Education and Experience:

  • Degree requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Science
  • Experience in PCR and pipetting preferred with a basic understanding of molecular biology techniques An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of above.
