Basic Purpose:
Perform routine toxicity analyses as directed by the Supervisor and/or Laboratory Coordinator
Key Accountability/Responsibilities:
- Support and comply with all Bureau Veritas policies, Quality System and Health & Safety program
- Adhere to Bureau Veritas Code of Ethics Policy
- Meet quality and TAT specifications required by the client and ensure samples are analyzed within holding time requirements
- Employ proper laboratory techniques to minimize risk of mislabeling, sample mix-up and cross contamination between samples and other materials
- Perform routine toxicity analyses and/or complex and GLP toxicity analyses in strict compliance to the requirements of the Standard Operating Procedures
- Responsible to maintain cultures of bioassay organisms such as, rainbow trout, Daphnia magna, Ceriodaphnia dubia, and various algae
- Keep accurate records of all work, i.e., calibration and maintenance of instruments, water quality measurements, culture mortality and reproduction and test results
- Enter and verify data and complete toxicity test reports
- Maintain up-to-date training records and relevant qualifications
- Participate in external & internal method audits and maintains a high level of theoretical & practical expertise
- Write and update Standard Operating Procedures (Test Methods) and Work Instructions for bioassays
- Develop, conduct, and validate toxicity methods for projects involving environmental and industrial projects
- Other duties as assigned
Skills and Knowledge:
- A University Degree or a College Diploma in Sciences, preferably biology, ecotoxicology or related field with special emphasis in the discipline of toxicity
- Two (2) years related ecotoxicology or biology laboratory experience is an asset
- Ability to keep accurate records in order to comply within GLP standards
- Self-directed and proven ability to organize, execute plans and objectives
Working Conditions:
- High level of work production in fast paced lab environment
- The job requires flexible working hours, weekends, overtime and shift work
- May involve long periods of standing
- Hazardous materials are handled using established safety procedures and appropriate PPE

The salary range for this role is $22.62 - $25.75.
Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location.
