JOB TITLE: Laboratory Operational Excellence Specialist

 

SUMMARY: The Laboratory Operational Excellence Specialist is responsible for the management of operational excellence projects for the Bureau Veritas Fuels Division. This specialist plays a significant role in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of an organization’s processes. By employing a systematic approach, this position focuses on optimization of operations utilizing data driven decisions to drive performance to meet the evolving needs of the business and its customers.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •  Champion the company absolutes and safety policies.
  • Optimize the existing asset inventory of laboratory equipment.
  • Collect data for asset utilization and provide recommendations for deployment of underutilized assets.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify process bottlenecks and inefficiencies, proposing innovative solutions to address these issues.
  • Collect and analyze data regarding laboratory employee utilization using current systems, working with the system developers for enhancement to provide accurate, verifiable data.
  • Develop a working model for optimization of laboratory setup considering different combinations of sample type and experience variables.
  • Gather input for possible operational excellence projects and lead the prioritization effort to select the projects providing optimized return.
  • Champion SWOT or other risk and opportunity analyses to drive continual improvement.
  • Oversee the documentation and updating of processes and procedures to ensure current best practices are aligned.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned by Senior Management.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in a science discipline. 3 plus years in a production environment. Two plus years’ experience in the TIC industry and two plus years working with Lean Six Sigma preferred. Lean Six Sigma experience a plus.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, interpret and implement safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to groups of customers and/or employees. The ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees within the company is essential.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Basic understanding of statistics and financial calculations.

 

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common-sense understanding to complex situations and able to prepare and/or follow instructions in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.

 

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Work with multiple teams across multiple geographies. Excellent communication skills. Computer literate (MS Office), email, etc.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid driver’s license required.
