Required Skills / Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Engineering (Mechanical, Metallurgy, Materials or Chemical)
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience as Corrosion Engineer in Risk Based Inspection in Oil and Gas Refining, Petrochemicals, or water treatment sectors.
  • Solid knowledge of integrity management methodologies (including Risk-Based Inspection, Pipeline Integrity Management, Fitness for Service, etc.) and have a good experience in their application.
  • Solid knowledge on mechanisms of degradation / corrosion.
  • Experience in API-571
  • Travel within US and abroad may be expected.


Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the development of corrosion loops by identifying the active/potential damage mechanisms and their applicability and severity to the equipment and piping, considering the process conditions, environment, metallurgy, age, etc., of the piping/equipment.
  • Review the operation process parameters for changes that can affect damage mechanisms in a corrosion loop.
  • Establish expected corrosion rates and Condition Monitoring Locations (CMLs) in the loop.
  • Prepare Corrosion loop description document with loop boundaries, process and corrosion description with material details.
  • Support RBI Engineer in RBI analysis based on progress on corrosion loop
  • Review the outcome of the inspection plan for appropriateness of the inspections in relation to the damage mechanism.
  • Provide recommendations on methods of mitigating the Probability of Failure (POF) (such as changes in metallurgy, addition of inhibition, addition of coatings/linings, etc.) and methods of monitoring the process for possible changes in damage rates (such as pH monitoring, corrosion rate monitoring, contaminant monitoring, etc.).
  • Describe parameters to be monitored including required frequency, method, location and criteria
  • Regular updating of corrosion loop diagram and description based on process / material change, higher corrosion rate etc.
