Compensation Range: $24.00 - $26.00 per hour (e.g., the job posting is not necessarily reflective of actual compensation that may be earned, and actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as locations, education, experience, and skillset).
Hours Worked: Typically, Monday through Friday, forty-hours per week. However, must be flexible to meet the needs of the department and complete other projects as assigned.
Position Summary:
The Biologist will be primarily responsible for the organization, preparation, and analysis of clinical trial samples and data compilation and review by following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and protocols. Proper documentation and lab notebooking are essential in this role. Other duties include buffer preparation and general lab upkeep.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Plan and run manual plate-based ELISA immunoassays and perform data analysis
• Perform various cell based and biochemical in vitro assays
• Isolate genomic material (DNA, RNA) to perform RT-QPCR
• Isolate protein to perform Western Blottinq
• Use of liquid handler automation including Tecan and Hamilton instrumentation
• Maintain and operate standard laboratory equipment including centrifuges, pipettes, spectrophotometers, ELISA readers, as well as specialized equipment necessary to support the laboratory
• Record data in Electronic Lab Notebooks
• Knowledge of analyzing data with familiarity to Excel and other analytical techniques
• Open to future opportunities to perform in vivo testing
• Comply with clients and company management systems in accordance with appropriate regulatory agencies
• Follow guidelines set forth by clients and in the company Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures
• Other duties as defined by manager, department needs and workload
Skills & Proficiencies:
• Professional, clear and concise communication required in written and verbal formats
• Proven Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, and PowerPoint skills
• Ability to learn quickly and understand job specific software
• Ability to understand basic scientific terminology and communicate it to others
• Team oriented and ability to work in a collaborative environment
• Proven multi-tasker that thrives on juggling multiple projects in a deadline driven environment
• Possess strong organizational skills with ability to quickly assess project status and communicate it effectively
• Driven, energetic person able to coordinate activities among different areas of the department
• Proven consistent pipetting skills and aseptic technique
• Knowledge of scientific research principles, practices and protocols
• Ability to understand and follow safety procedures
Education and Experience:
• Degree requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Biology or closely related field
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in laboratory environment
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of above.
