Position Summary:

The Biologist plays a critical role being responsible for collecting, organizing, and preparing samples for a variety of assay analysis and lab note booking. Other duties include maintaining general laboratory solutions, stocking and mammalian cell culture. A strong enthusiasm and want to learn and grow, as a well as excellent written and communication skills.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Sample preparation (tissue homogenization and RNA, DNA, protein isolations)
  • Routine sample analysis and method development (Western blot, ELISA/MSD with reagent prep/labeling, immunoprecipitation).
  • Familiarity with or willingness to work with automation (liquid handlers, automated Western systems, tube labelers).
  • Data processing (familiarity with Excel, GraphPad Prism, SigmaPlot, and/or JMP software) and accurately recording lab activities in an electronic notebook.
  • General laboratory services (inventory, supplies, cleaning, stocking, instrument care and maintenance, and reagent or sample handling).
  • Must be self-regulated and have high attention to detail for quality and strong organization skills.
  • Perform other essential tasks projects and responsibilities as required.

 

Skills & Proficiencies:

  • Professional, clear and concise communicate required in both written and verbal formats
  • Proven Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, and PowerPoint skills
  • Experience with Western blots is required.
  • Cell culture and automation experience is recommended.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written. Ability to communicate issues as they occur.
  • Willingness to collaborate with partners across research functions.
  • Works well both as a team and as an individual contributor.
  • Strong safety focus and willingness to assist with general lab housekeeping.
  • Ability and willingness to adapt to changing project needs and timelines and flex plans and responsibilities as needed.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Degree requirement: Bachelor’s degree in science
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in highly detail-oriented environment

 

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of above.
