Compensation Range: $24.00-$26.00 per hour  (e.g., the job posting is not necessarily reflective of actual compensation that may be earned, and actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as locations, education, experience, and skillset). 

 

 

 

Hours Worked: Typically, Monday through Friday, forty-hours per week. However, must be flexible to meet the needs of the department and complete other projects as assigned.

 

Position Summary:

The Equipment Specialist is responsible for the regular start-up and shutdown of various instruments and equipment used in scientific research. This role involves ensuring that preventive maintenance on instruments are done in a timely manner, and instruments are functioning correctly, and accurately to support operations and experiments in a regulated clinical environment. This role is expected to have a high level of client interaction with a focus on supporting highly regulated clinical research with emphasis on attention to detail. 

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

 

  • Maintains assigned instrumentation in working order, performs routine maintenance and alerts management of instrument failures.
  • Maintains and schedules maintenance for all department instruments for example daily, weekly, semiweekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual. 
  • Completes all required area specific documentation; maintains instrument logbook and prepares technical report.
  • Assist in preparation of chemicals, reagents, and solutions, or other lab support as needed.
  • Communicates with External/Internal vendors when applicable. 
  • Trains and cross trains on other instrument procedures within the laboratory including their use and maintenance.
  • Clean, organize and maintain work area, glassware (e.g., refrigerators, freezers, and supply cabinets, as needed).
  • Work with the laboratory Scientist to review/troubleshoot procedures and work assignments.
  • Make appropriate suggestions for SOP’s revisions when applicable.
  • Participate in the laboratory inventory program that provides adequate inventories of reagents and supplies. 
  • Complete training and competency checklists as appropriate.
  • Support other department task as needed. 

 

 

 

Skills & Proficiencies:

 

  • Proven consistent pipetting skills and aseptic technique.
  • GMARS, Metasys and NIST basic knowledge 
  • Problem solving: Being flexible, open-minded, and analytical.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills to communicate with others.
  • Ability to learn quickly and work in a team environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).

 

 

Education and Experience:

 

  • Degree requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Science or closely related field
  • Minimum of one (1) year of related laboratory experience (either through an industry or academic research position)
  • Previous experience working in a GLP environment and familiarity with analytical instrumentation.  

 

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of above.
