Property Maintenance and Zoning Code Compliance Inspector, Georgia
Reports to: Georgia Business Unit Manager


Purpose of Position/ Function:
Working under the direction of the Georgia Business Unit Manager is responsible for
performing daily inspections on residential and commercial construction projects and other
assignments as directed.


Responsibilities and Duties:
 Perform scheduled assignments between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday –Friday
 Perform daily duties responsibly and safely with respect to private and personal
property.
 Readily communicate with staff, citizens, and builders/contractors as necessary.
 Readily communicate with team members.
 Maintain detailed records and reports of all inspections and compliance cases.
 Be available to assist client staff with additional service as related to our purpose.
 Be available to assist team members when called upon.
 Assist in maintaining files, answering phone calls, and scheduling inspections as
necessary.
 Maintain ICC certifications and professional credentials.
 Promote professional development by achieving additional ICC certifications, attending
training opportunities, and consistent study of codes and standards as related to work
performance.


Job Qualifications and Education:
MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Any combination of education or experience is normally equivalent to:
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent, preferably supplemented by additional training
in building inspection, structural engineering, or a related field. An Associate Degree in
engineering, architecture, building inspection, or related field, or equivalent ICC certification
the level is a plus.
Experience: Minimum (3) years experience as a Code Compliance Inspector. 

 

CERTIFICATION:

  • GA Association Code Enforcement (GACE) Level I (required)
  • ICC Property Maintenance Inspector (preferred)
  • GSWCC Level IB Inspector (preferred)

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:

  • Strong knowledge of building and related municipal codes, building inspection methods and techniques and construction materials, methods and techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of zoning laws and municipal court procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of erosion and sedimentation control laws and Best Management Practices.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to operate work-related technology (laptop, tablet, iPhone).
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and similar programs.
  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Ability to maintain a professional appearance, attitude, and conduct.
  •  Must be self-disciplined, able to work without direct supervision.
  • Ability to work well with people and perform as a member of a team.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must possess problem-solving skills.
  • Must possess a positive attitude towards Company and clients.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships.
  • Must have a valid Georgia’s driver’s license.
