Position Title: Analyst II

Business Title: Laboratory Analyst II, Chromatography

Entity: Consumer Products Services Division

Department: Galbraith

  Location: Knoxville, TN

  Reports to (N+1): Chromatography Laboratory Supervisor

  FLSA: Non-Exempt

 

 

Hours Worked: Typically, Monday through Friday, forty-hours per week.

However, must be flexible to meet the needs of the department and complete other projects as assigned.

 

Position Summary:

 

The Laboratory Analyst II, Chromatography is responsible for preparing and analyzing a wide variety of client samples using various chromatographic techniques and instruments.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Preparing samples, standard reference materials, reagents, and/or solutions.
  • Maintaining a clean and well-organized work area.
  • Performing and documenting routine maintenance and calibration of instrumentation.
  • Documenting/recording raw data and results of analyses.
  • Executing analytical procedures in accordance with the appropriate regulations.
  • Basic method development, such as deciding oven temperature, oven ramp rate, gas flow, column type, and other similar GC method parameters.
  • Follow the guidelines set forth with the company Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environmental policies and procedures.
  • Comply with company management systems in accordance with appropriate regulatory agencies.
  • Follows the guidelines set forth in the company Quality Manual and Safety / Chemical Hygiene Plan.
  • Adhere to the requirements of the company Quality System.
  • Other duties as defined by Manager, department needs and workload.

 

Skills & Proficiencies:

 

  • Knowledge of chromatography principles, theories, and analytical methodologies in addition to experience with a chromatographic technique such as High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Ion Chromatography (IC), Gas Chromatography (GC), or GC/MS.
  • Good critical thinker and problem solver, possess good interpersonal skills, and have good technical writing and communication skills.
  • The ability to prioritize, multi-task, and interpret mathematical relationships.
  • Possess a willingness to learn in a team-based environment.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a group.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Basic computer skills

Education and Experience:

 

  • Degree requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology or closely related field
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a chromatography laboratory position
  • Experience in a GLP/cGMP and ISO regulated environment preferred

 

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of above.

 

Compensation Range: $21 - $22.89 per hour (e.g., the job posting is not necessarily reflective of actual compensation that may be earned, and actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as locations, education, experience, and skillset)
