Laboratory Technician - Martinez, CA

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour

 

SUMMARY: The scope of work for a Laboratory Technician is to perform precise and timely laboratory testing and data analysis, draft mission-critical custody transfer documentation, troubleshoot minor instrumentation issues, and deliver value to our clients. The ideal candidate for this role is a critical thinker, problem solver, and technically inclined.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Read, understand, and follow standardized test methods to produce analytical data

• Troubleshoot instrumentation issues as they arise, run SQCs, calibrations, and follow quality assurance practices and protocols.

• Perform routine and non-routine laboratory analysis.

• Devise and apply testing methodologies to effectively run special analytical requests where published procedures may not exist.

• Document and train others in research methodologies.

• Maintain a familiarity with chemical literature and current developments in the field.

• Render statistical analyses of analytical data. • Awareness of laboratory chemical properties and their hazards

• Continually evaluate the safety of laboratory working conditions • Advise and support with integrity the laboratory and clients in those issues that require a scientist.

• Carry out the above responsibilities, and all others, which may be assigned, in a manner demonstrating support for and adherence to the Company’s Safety Policy and Procedures, Quality Policy and Procedures, Ethics Policy, Environmental Management System, Vision and Strategy, and to exercise good judgment, common sense, and diplomacy in so doing.

• Less than 10% of traveling is required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry

• 5+ years of related experience and/or training

• Demonstrate advanced capacity to learn quickly

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to properly interpret technical reports related to chemicals and their properties. Ability to interpret scientific formulas.

 

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSE, AND REGISTRATIONS: Valid driver license required.
