Laboratory Analyst – Micro Water lab

 

 

As a Laboratory Analyst, your responsibilities are:

 

  • Support and comply with all Bureau Veritas policies, Quality System and Health & Safety program, Adhere to Bureau Veritas Code of Ethics Policy.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WIs) when conducting any laboratory work or procedure. Recommend revisions.
  • Review LIMS summary reports and prioritize daily workload for self and junior staff.
  • Monitor workload and prioritize shift activities to meet deadlines and holding times.
  • Understand analytical procedures and problem solve issues.
  • Perform basic Microbiological testing procedures, sample preparation and procedures prior to analyses. Including media prep and clean up.
  • To coordinate and perform complex sample preparation and analysis ensuring high level of accuracy.
  • Perform method and/or data validation and any related studies. Ensure that quality control criteria are met for all reported data.
  • Recording results in logbooks and on FCDs. Data entry into LIMS may also be required.
  • Perform investigations and provide input to corrective action procedures.
  • Meets quality and TAT specifications required by the client.
  • Employs proper laboratory techniques to minimize risk of mislabeling sample mix-up and cross contamination between samples and other materials.
  • Identify and report non-conformances, resource and operation shortfalls to the Supervisor/Manager.
  • Maintains training records and relevant qualifications.
  • Responsible for training technicians and Analyst I. Provide technical expertise to staff with respect to operations and general processes in the Department.
  • Responsible for ensuring that Good House Keeping standards are followed and sustained at all times. Maintain department in a clean, safe and organized manner.
  • Participates, when requested in Department and Health & Safety meetings.
  • Participates, when requested in internal and external audits. Be audit compliant at all times.
  • Proactive in ensuring that consumable supplies are available in the lab.
  • Ensures that instruments and equipment are appropriately maintained.
  • All other responsibilities as assigned.

 

You are an ideal Laboratory Analyst, if you have [Minimum Requirements]:

  • Post-secondary school education (B.Sc. in Biology, Biotechnology, Microbiology preferred) or equivalent experience. Three or more years of experience in related area.
  • Accurately follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Instructions.
  • Basic knowledge and experience in Environmental Microbiology and provincial regulation required.
  • Understanding of Bureau Veritas's Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) is an asset.
  • Positive outlook with an ability to work with changing priorities.
  • Good time management, organized, multi-tasking and priority setting skills, able to work under pressure with tight deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with excellent record keeping skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Inspires, motivates and participates in building a strong team environment.
  • Provide technical expertise and mentoring to junior staff to effect process changes.
  • Strong Judgement and decision-making skills. Able to proactively assess analytical and process problems and recommend solutions.
  • Dynamic, energetic, motivated individual with a "can-do" attitude and an ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexible and adapts to a changing environment and situations.
  • Require flexible working hours, overtime and shift work, including weekends.
  • Exposure to biohazardous materials, hot liquids, autoclaves(steam) is present in this role requiring use of established safety procedures and appropriate protective equipment.
  • Learns quickly and has willingness to take initiatives and update skills and expertise.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Some lifting and carrying (up to 40 lbs.) and may involve long periods of standing.

 

 

Work Schedule: 2:00 pm to 10:30pm, Rotating shift and weekends.

(Participation within the emergency “on-call” program)
