Sample Log Technician - Pasadena, TX (No Experience Needed)

Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour

 

SUMMARY: The role of “Sample Log-In Technician” is generally a part-time role in Bureau Veritas Fuel’s laboratories.

 

The Sample Log-In Technician is responsible for sample log-in utilizing the Laboratory Information System.  These technicians will also participate in shipping and receiving samples, and at times learn and perform basic fuels testing.

 

The role is generally part-time, but very critical to the operation of the laboratory.  There is the possibility of full-time employment in the future upon graduation or skills developed based on the needs of the company.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND REPSONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be designated.

 

  • Always demonstrate ethical behavior.
  • Log-in samples for both inspection related and submitted samples
  • Accumulate all samples designated for retain.
  • Ensure all received samples are properly labeled and/or tagged with current information.
  • Enter all samples received into LIMS.
  • May be required to pick-up and/or drop off samples at customer locations, outsourced laboratories and other Bureau Veritas offices, fulfilling all requirements as outlined in procedures and training.
  • Report to the job punctually and observe all Bureau Veritas regulatory, safety and other procedural requirements
  • Prepare samples per proper IATA procedures to be shipped.
  • Generate a disposal list as required for the Retain Department.
  • Work assigned schedule (possibility to work around college course schedule at the discretion of Bureau Veritas management.
  • May be required to utilize respiratory equipment in handling samples.
  • Maintain open communication with the team, including supervisors and managers
  • Perform as a strong team player

  • Train on and perform basic testing, as assigned.
  • Maintain all paper and system records as required.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  A student currently enrolled in a STEM related program is preferred but not required.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.

 

Must be able to read and understand MSDS sheets and ensure a proper supply of MSDS sheets are available and on file for all products received.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphical data.

 

REASONING ABILITY:  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. 

 

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

 

  • Above average “people skills”
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Computer literate (MS Office), equipment related software, email etc.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:  Valid driver’s license required.
