Job Description   

The design, installation, operation, maintenance, and testing of systems for the prevention of explosions. The design, installation, inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire alarm and signaling systems, including detection layout, occupant notification, and emergency communication systems. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

 

  • Evaluates fire prevention systems and construction plans/components for compliance with laws and regulations affecting fire prevention or fire safety. 

  • Prepare and write reports detailing specific fire prevention and protection issues such as work performed and proposed review schedules. 

  • Advise architects, builders, and other construction personnel on fire prevention equipment and techniques, and on fire code and standard interpretation and compliance. 

  • Conduct research on fire retardants and the fire safety of materials and devices. 

  • Consult with authorities to discuss safety regulations and to recommend changes as necessary. 

  • Monitors and reviews data/ information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems. 

Qualifications:

Education/Experience: 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in applicable discipline (Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, Construction) with minimum 5 years of experience as a licensed Fire Protection Engineer.  

  • State of Texas Registered PE  

  • Ability to review and understand smoke modeling. 

  • Maintain working knowledge of adopted Fire Codes.  

  • Demonstrated knowledge of fire suppression systems, fire/ smoke initiating/ notification systems, and smoke exhaust compartment pressurization.  

  • Knowledge of the chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations that they undergo. This includes uses of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, production techniques, and disposal methods. 

  • Familiarity with laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process. 

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology, including the application of principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services. 

  • Knowledge of construction design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models. 

 

Computer Skills:  

 

Demonstrated knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, document, and database software (MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Photoshop).

The starting wage range commences at $120,000.00 annually, subject to potential increases contingent upon factors such as experience, licenses, or certifications.
