Job Title: Business Development Manager

Reports to: Vice-President of Business Development - Energy

Department: Industry Oil and Gas Division

Basic Purpose:

The Bureau Veritas (BV) Industrial Oil and Gas (IND O&G)division is a prominent global service provider in the Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC) industry space.

 

 

Summary:

  • BV continues to grow our services consisting of second-party and third-party vendor / shop inspection, expediting, vendor assessments, provision of project quality assurance personnel for assembly yard and construction sites, Manufacturer Design Reviews, Risk Assessments, Product Conformity Assessments, and related QA/QC services to clients primarily in the Energy Industry
  • The Business Development Manager will spearhead the continued growth of BV’s vendor inspection and general inspection services in Canada. The role involves identification of projects and clients in the Canadian market, developing a market growth strategy, directly promoting BV’s INI services, and positioning BV as a preferred partner for quality assurance and related services in Canada.
  • The ideal candidate will be based in Calgary, working remotely but with access to BV offices when needed.

 

Responsibilities:

1. Industry O&G Division Business Development

  • Identify and target key industries requiring inspection services, including Oil & Gas, Power Generation, New Energies, Construction, and Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC’s) companies.
  • Build relationships with procurement and quality control teams in identified companies
  • Prepare proposals, negotiate service agreements in coordination with the management, Develop tailored service solutions to meet client-specific requirements.

2. Client Engagement and Retention

  • Maintain strong relationships with existing clients to ensure repeat business.
  • Conduct client satisfaction surveys and implement feedback-driven improvements.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for high-value clients, addressing concerns and ensuring service excellence.

3. Operations and Service Delivery

  • Collaborate with operational teams to ensure timely and high-quality execution of vendor inspections.
  • Monitor and report project performance metrics, including inspection turnaround times and client feedback.

4. Revenue Growth and Strategy

  • Develop and implement a growth strategy for the Canadian IND O&G Division in discussion with the VP of Business Development and Operations Management,
  • Identify high-growth sectors and opportunities to expand BV’s market share.
  • Provide regular progress reports and strategic recommendations to senior management.

5. Service Promotion and Branding

  • Represent BV at industry events and trade shows to promote Industrial Inspection services.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop case studies, brochures, and campaigns tailored to vendor inspection services.
  • Position BV as a trusted partner for inspection services in the region.

 

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in vendor inspection, quality assurance, or technical service solution business development.
  • Proven track record of growing technical services and securing agreement contracts with major clients.
  • Strong understanding of energy industry in Canada.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Quality Assurance and Quality Control services for the Energy sector.
  • Excellent relationship-building and negotiation skills to secure long-term agreements
  • Familiarity with vendor inspection management methods and processes
  • Strategic thinking and ability to identify new opportunities in the market.
  • Identification of opportunities and outreach including cold calling
