The Food Certification Specialist is a key member of the technical team for Food Certification. The position is responsible for ensuring the food certification program remains in compliance with company, customer and accreditation requirements in the areas of auditor credentialing, auditor training, audit report review, and achieving Food Certification technical key process indicators. The position works with the Director on the maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS) for the food certification body and participates in accreditation audits.

What You'll Do

· Assist with processing and upkeep of auditor documentation, qualifications and general requirements

· Perform technical reviews of certification audit packages, including reviewing of corrective action responses as applicable as well as making of the certification decision

· Manage timeline of audit process, audit report and audit certificate

· Monitor and report on corrective action TAT’s and contact customers that have had delayed correction action resolutions.

· Facilitate client Interaction and drive process improvement in auditor feedback, revisions of the quality management system, reporting and training

· Confer with customers by telephone or via email to collect and resolve complaints on auditor performance or delivery of the audit report or certificate. Conduct investigations and manage corrective actions based on the results of those investigations. Maintain documentation of all complaints investigation and corrective action

· Check to ensure that appropriate changes were made to resolve customers' problems.

· Monitor the certification audit process and all aspects of CB KPIs related to the certification audit process and scheme owners (corrective action responses, report turn-around time, report quality)

· Assist in the accreditation process for the certification body, liaison with accreditation body on all aspects of accreditation and participate in the accreditation audit process as well as any standard owner audit.

· Be responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of the certification body quality management systems to ensure accreditation.

· Work with Director, Business Development Manager and Operations team on overall quality output on all aspects of the certification process (auditor competency, audit report, certificate issuance)

· Manage and participate in the auditor information meetings to review auditor performance and industry updates

· Manage and participate in the witness audit requirements of auditors for Bureau Veritas Certification and Accreditation Bodies

· Work with Director and Technical team on auditor training, monitoring of auditor performance, and identifying training programs for improvement of auditor performance

· Work with CPO databases and ensure that all information pertaining to the audit process is accurate

· Other duties as assigned

What You'll Bring:

· Education/Experience (BMQ): BS degree in food related or bioscience discipline

· Additional preferences: At least 2 years of managing quality managements systems within a food safety or quality related field.

· Preference of experience within a certification body with functions related to the quality management system

· HACCP Training, GFSI recognized auditor training (SQF, BRC, FSSC 22000)

· Strong interpersonal skills that allow for moving comfortably in a business environment and to interface with all levels of customer and staff

· Detail oriented with documentation

· Self-motivated

· Strong time management skills

· Ability to work independently and efficiently

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Excellent technical writing ability

· Works well under pressure and handles adverse situations

· Problem solving ability

· Project management skills and experience

· Strong technology skills
