Administrative Lab Technician
Sparks, NV
SUMMARY: Time split between being an Administrative Assistance and a Laboratory Technician. Is responsible for the daily administrative tasks such as answering phones, and the processing of accounts receivable and accounts payable. Direct communication with clients through email, invoicing, crediting, sending out certificates and other documents. Organization of samples, sample control, mailing samples back to clients etc. The Lab Techs are responsible for inputting, weighing, and processing client’s incoming samples. Work conditions and physical requirements include light to medium work (must be able to lift and carry 25 lbs for 25 feet) involving chemical hazards.
Lab Responsibilities:
- - Comply with the OHS Act and Regulations, BV Group Policy and Procedures, High Grade Management System Policies and Procedures and ISO standards applicable to the Lab Tech Position.
- - Act in a safe and professional manner and wear appropriate attire including the required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- -Able to use laboratory balances, moisture machines, drying ovens, loi ovens, annealing ovens, and other lab equipment
- - Carry out analytical procedures in accordance with documented SOPs and other work instructions.
- - Ensure proper functioning of Analytical operations by:
- -Calibration of balances and other equipment as needed
- - Able to use SORBY system and has basic computer skills including Microsoft program knowledge. • -Calibrating, operating and analyzing samples by various analytical techniques
- -Stocking of the lab with supplies (lead, acid, paper, borax, silica, etc).
- -Updating order list when supplies are low.
- -Making and refilling reagents for use in lab includes but not limited to: 25% HNO3, 50%, HNO3, 10% HCL, DIWATER, sodium thiosulfate, copper chloride.
- -Taking care of acid waste (dumping and pumping)
- Weighing and digesting samples for various techniques such as but not limited to gravimetric, precipitations, aqua regia, salt fusions, and other methods.
- -Knowing fundamental lab tasks including but not limited to: Sample weigh and prep, moisture, LOI, PH analysis, roasting, pre-igniting, metal rolling, tubing, Ytt spiking, Sample storage, sample returns, density calculations, basic dilutions, salt fusions, filtering, precipitations, disposal of acid waste, inventory, and XRF.
- -Organization of samples. (Proper placement/storage of Client Samples.
- -Being able to wash dishes properly with the right procedure to ensure clean glassware.
- -Follow strict procedures
- Practicing good housekeeping. (Cleaning of stations before and after use, general lab cleaning, etc).
- Communicate general laboratory issues to the Laboratory Manager as appropriate.
- Report any deviation(s) from documented procedures to the Laboratory Manager.
- Report any unsafe condition(s) observed in the department to the Laboratory Manager.
- Report any nonconforming work, customer samples or test data to the Laboratory Manager.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.

- Maintaining vision of Revenue for each month
- Tracking of inter-group billing
- Tracking and maintaining WIP to be accurate
- CAPEX Orders
- Communication with Vendors
- Invoicing
- Credit Memos
- Invoice
- Communication with clients through phone and email
- Answering calls, answering email, etc.
- Sending out certificates, important documents, etc
- Tracking of finances and chasing of overdue invoices (past dues).
- Attending meeting (Collection meetings, etc).

- Record keeping of samples: when they were shipped, dumped, etc
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma: Preferred Lab experience and Admin experience, but willing to train the right candidate
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret technical language. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and general public.
MATHMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to perform basic algebra and statistical analysis. Must possess at least a basic understanding of general chemistry.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and create solutions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to learn computer software programs. Must have a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and outlook.

The employee must occasionally cover and/or work in Fire Assay either to over for lab employee and/or to train or create fluxes. Must be able to work in hot conditions for extended period of time.
