OCM LABORATORY TECHNICIAN - SUWANEE, GA

Pay $15.00 per hour.

 

 

SUMMARY:  Perform laboratory tests to determine chemical and physical characteristics or composition of solid, liquid, or gaseous materials for such purposes as quality control, process control, or product development by performing the following duties. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND REPONSIBILITIES:  include the followingOther duties may be assigned. Operates laboratory equipment and instruments such as FTIRs, ICPS, balance/scales, spectrophotometer, gas chromatograph, colorimeter, and other equipment. Tests in-service lubricants for maintenance and reliability purposes for characteristics such as wear, contamination, viscosity, density, cleanliness, and degradation by-products. Records test results on standardized forms and writes test reports describing procedures used. Cleans and maintains laboratory equipmentCalibrates laboratory instruments. Prepares chemical solutions according to standard formulas. Adds chemicals or raw materials to process solutions or products batches to correct or establish formulation required to meet specifications.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Internships and laboratory experience will be considered. 

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees. 

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to do some basic algebra, calculus, and trigonometry.  

 

REASONING ABILITY:  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization existsAbility to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. 

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSE, AND REGISTRATIONS:  Valid driver’s license not required.
