Job Title: Data Quality Technician

Reports to: Director of Technical Services

Department: Quality

Location: Vancouver, B.C.

Full-time 1-year contract

 

Basic Purpose:

Reporting to the Director of Technical Services, the Data Quality Technician will perform duties related to the administration of data for the Upstream Minerals (UM) Quality program for all sites in the global UM network.

 

Key Accountability/Responsibilities:

•          Responsible for the ongoing monitoring of quality control charts and performing intra and inter-laboratory comparisons.

•          Preparation of reports on quality assurance and quality control activities for submission to the Upstream Minerals management team

•          Assist in collation and reporting of data related to reference and proficiency test materials

•          Assist in the collation of data related to validation of technical methods

•          Review and update measurement uncertainty data collected for technical methods

•          General administrative duties related to the quality management system, including but not limited to:

o          Control and revision of procedures and associated documents

o          Registration of internal and client complaints into database

o          Power BI programing and maintenance

o          Calculation of Laboratory Uncertainties

o          Assist in the verification of balances, working weights and thermometers

o          Participate in external assessments/audits with accreditation/registration bodies

•          Participate in professional development and training as required

•          Comply with occupational health and safety legislation, BV Group Policies and Procedures, Upstream Minerals Management System Policies and Procedures and ISO standards applicable to the position

•          Act in a safe and professional manner and wear appropriate attire including the required personal protective equipment (PPE)

•          Other tasks or projects as required or assigned by the QHS Manager or Director or Technical Services

 

Skills and Knowledge:

•          Minimum Technical Diploma or equivalent (Science / Math)

•          Previous experience in a laboratory setting an asset

•          Strong mathematical and statistical skills

•          SQL database, MS SQL Sever Management Studio, and MS Report Builder proficiency

•          Working knowledge and understanding of databases and reporting tools such as Power BI and/or Tableau

•          Excellent communication skills – verbal and written communications

•          Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team or independently

•          Strong attention to detail, thorough and ability to maintain high level of accuracy

•          Effective time management skills and ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines

The salary range for this role is $55,000 - $60,000 annually.

 

Paywithin this range varies by work locationand may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location.
