Bureau Veritas is looking for a Fire Assay Floor Technician - General Labourer.

 

Reporting to the Fire Assay Manager and under the general supervision of the Fire Assay Shift Supervisorthe Fire Assay Floor Technician performs basic routine and non-routine duties relating to the analysis of samples by fusion. 

 

As a Fire Assay Floor Technician - General Labourer, your responsibilities are:

 

  • Load, pour and pound a fusion accurately, and to oversee another employee’s load and pour 
  • Set up a crucible set for mixing, including discarding all crucibles that should be discarded  
  • Ensure fast and accurate processing of incoming samples in priority sequence 
  • Perform and document quality checks at all stages of sample handling, halting production where necessary by Hold card 
  • Operate fusion equipment and ensure all required calibration records are maintained  
  • Comply with occupational health and safety legislation, BV Group Policies and Procedures, Upstream Minerals Management System Policies and Procedures and ISO standards applicable to the Mineralogical Technician position 
  • Act in a safe and professional manner and wear appropriate attire including the required personal protective equipment (PPE) 
  • Other duties as assigned from time to time 

 

You are an ideal Fire Assay Floor Technician - General Labourer if you have:

 

  • Relevant post-secondary education or experience is an asset 
  • Excellent English communications, verbal and written 
  • Strong organization and time management skills 
  • General computer skills  
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
